With reference to the participation of the prime minister in the work of the extraordinary session of the European Council on the multi-annual budgetary framework, the government representative began, Pavlos Marinakisinforming the political editors.

“Greece has clearly expressed its position that a comprehensive approach to the mid-term review of the multi-year fiscal framework is required, that is, a package agreement that will not only include aid to Ukraine but also increased resources for migration and natural disasters.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism that at this European Council we will finally be able to reach an agreement. He even referred to the issue of rural mobilizations. From the first moment, Greece had been in favor of the proposal which is being promoted by the European Commission so that there would be a pause in the fallow regime for lands which are cultivated at the European level”, said Mr. Marinakis.

“From here on I will repeat what I said yesterday that the Greek State, within the framework of its fiscal capabilities, is always close to the primary sector as it has been doing for four and a half years. This is how we will continue to do it now so that, as far as possible, we can deal fairly with the demands of our farmers and breeders, as the Prime Minister emphasized.”

He then stated that “it is expected to be voted today by the Parliament and indeed with an increased majority on principle and in a unifying atmosphere the n/s of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports for taking measures to prevent and deal with violence in the context of sporting events. The provisions create a coherent framework for dealing with violence in stadiums so that we don’t mourn again victims like ‘Alkis Kampanos who was murdered like today, two years ago in Thessaloniki.’

He mentioned this point in the announcement of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, accepting the proposal of the official opposition, today is established as the Panhellenic Day of Philathology.

He added that technical inspection teams were created which visited all 14 Super League stadiums to record needs and weaknesses. “The measures foreseen, among other things, concern the regulation of the operating framework of the fan clubs, the installation of electronic surveillance systems of the sports facilities, the control of the entrance of the fans to the grounds of the stadium, the reinforcement of administrative and criminal measures in case of violations, the establishment of the National Coordination Committee and the restructuring of the Standing Committee on Combating Violence.

This issue must find us all united and all on the same side, state, citizens, sports players, so that we can eliminate the offending elements from professional sports”, underlined Mr. Marinakis.

THE second round of first aid to agricultural holdings and livestock units for the areas affected by the Daniel disaster in Thessaly and other areas, announced by the Prime Minister was the next issue that the government representative dealt with.

“During the second cycle, interested parties will be able to submit a request through arogi.gov.gr, from the beginning of next week, either for the first time, or to revise the existing one, in case they judge that they have very serious or very serious damage to equipment, raw materials, stored products, damaged vehicles and land capital.

So, in addition to the first aid they have received to date, the beneficiaries will be able to submit a request for additional first aid aid from 5,000 to 10,000 euros.

At the same time, with an amendment submitted, it is foreseen that the farmers affected by the Theomania of Daniel will have a two-year complete suspension of payments, with the continuation of the electricity supply, and then a five-year arrangement of obligations – including old debts – will be put into operation with zero interest rate. In total, that is, it is a seven-year arrangement, which will be completed in 2030,” he said specifically.

Mr. Marinakis then noted that “Mr ELGA has moved with great speed in the compensation of the plant capital, while 33.9 million euros have already been granted to 16,400 agricultural holdings and livestock units”. And he emphasized that “agricultural production is a key part of the Greek economy and we want to preserve it, protecting farmers and Greek products”, referring to measures taken in the previous four years.

“Imported crises and rising inflation increase the cost of living and the cost of production, we all know that. It is a phenomenon that affects all of Europe, where we see agricultural mobilizations and tractors even on the streets of Brussels or Paris. The government remains faithful to its commitments: as we support every household, as far as public finances allow us in the face of the consequences of precision, so we also support our farmers.”

Mr. Marinakis also noted that this is possible “because the Greek economy is now more resilient, more fortified, with growth prospects that also reflect in the daily life of citizens. Greece is now in the news for the positive developments in its economy. We issued a 10-year bond of 4 billion euros, the largest since 2010, for which we received the most offers of 35 billion, and now we can borrow at a lower interest rate of 3.5%, the lowest spread compared to Germany.

The restoration of confidence in our country, the recovery of the investment grade and the prudent fiscal policy to which we are committed and which we are implementing ensure lower borrowing costs and benefits that are passed on to the market and strengthen Greek citizens”.

Summarizing, he pointed out that “all this positive news makes us optimistic about the course of the economy and about the implementation of our commitments to continue increasing the incomes of all citizens. Already, the salary for more than 660,000 civil servants has increased for the first time after 14 years, the three-year contracts in the private sector have been “unfrozen”, taxes are being reduced, a series of allowances and extraordinary aids as well as measures to limit accuracy are being implemented, so that immediately or indirectly to increase the disposable income of Greeks”.

He added that “the debate on his new increase started yesterday in the Parliament minimum wage. This is the 4th consecutive increase in the minimum wage during the governance of the New Republic. By starting the process early, the aim is to implement the new minimum wage from April 1in order to cover as many workers as possible and especially those who are not covered by collective labor agreements”

He then referred to the implementation from today of its operation Single Digital List of Surgeries with the aim of reducing patient waiting time. “The Single Digital List of Surgeries is the digital filing system, where the order of priority of the surgeries to be performed in the Hospitals is displayed. The list is updated with the necessary elements of the clinical assessment of each citizen who is judged by the attending physician to be in need of surgery and interoperates with every necessary information system and structured data system.

We are dynamically advancing the implementation of the reforms in the Health sector, in order to improve the health services provided daily and to contribute to better and faster service for all Greek citizens”, he stressed

Mr. Marinakis also referred to the institutionalization of the possibility for electricity providers to offer mixed electricity supply products and contracts of at least six months durationwhich, as he said, “complements the introduction of the green tariff – which works successfully in terms of strengthening competition – and is done with the criterion of greater transparency and better safeguarding of the consumer’s interests”.

Before completing his introductory remarks, Mr. Marinakis also spoke about the handover ceremony of the “Aktio – Amvrakia” Road Axis, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. “This is an important project that upgrades the country’s road network on multiple levels. It shortens distances, increases the road safety of users, reduces the environmental burden, improves the daily life of the residents and stimulates tourism activity”, he said.

And he closed with a reference to the prime minister’s program:

“Tomorrow, Friday, February 2, at 11:00 the Prime Minister will answer the Plenary Session of the Parliament to a topical question of the Head of the Parliamentary Group
