“Unfortunately, we didn’t have answers even today to the big questions and anxieties of the agricultural world. We cannot make fun of the farmers, we must speak much more seriously,” said Mr. Famellos
“Mockery” characterized the president of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA – PS, Socrates Famous, the measures announced by the Parliament for farmers by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during a press conference held in Thessaloniki by officials of the main opposition party, in the context of the 30th Agrotica.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t have answers even today to the big questions and anxieties of the agricultural world. We cannot make fun of the farmers, we must speak much more seriously”, said Mr. Famellos and added that for his party “the primary sector is of great importance. It is a national affair. We are concerned about the phenomena of the desertification of the countryside, the journalistic”.
The member of the Political Secretariat, in charge of the agricultural sector, Olympia Teligioridou, added that the “problems experienced by our farmers do not concern only them, but concern the whole of Greek society, as we are all consumers, and we must not allow phenomena to continue with poverty in the field and precision on the shelf.”
Mrs. Teligioridou spoke about the eight proposals of the SYRIZA – PS for farmers and breeders announced by the president, Stefanos Kasselakis, saying that the main goal is the “possibility of a dignified living of the agricultural world, staying in their place and the possibility of consumers to have access to safe and affordable products”.
During the press conference which had the theme “Legislative initiative for cooperatives” was presented by Vassilis Kokkalis, MP and Head of Rural Development, “the value of cooperation” and the possibility of implementing new policies in the countryside with a new cooperative model.
“A serious agricultural policy presupposes objectives and what production models we want. Because we believe that the production model should have cooperation as its dominant basis, today is the beginning of initiatives with more specific proposals, which came from a dialogue we had with the entire agricultural world”, said Mr. Kokkalis. He said that the legislative initiative will enter public consultation, as “the proposed law seeks to solve problems that have been created in the cooperatives and to give a breath to what is called the organization of producers”.
