The president of PASOK-Movement of Change, Nikos Androulakis, performed an autopsy on the ring road of Thessaloniki, where the flyover will be built.

In his statements, Mr. Androulakis argued that the project started without the implementation of the entire master plan, which was approved in 2012.

“Flyover. Or in other words, how to complicate the life of a city with one move! In Thessaloniki with so many problems in public transport, the government of New Democracy decided to do another experiment” said the president of PASOK-KINAL

The outer ring road, which the New Democracy government decided not to build, would significantly relieve traffic, which has been unbearable for the residents of Thessaloniki for four months.

“We are looking for”, he added, “a reasonable answer because while the study of the outer road ring was promoted, today the government decided to implement a piecemeal part of the project, the flyover, and indeed the most immature in terms of studies”.

Mr. Androulakis argued that “this situation is due to the fact that the government has a priority: To serve strong financial interests and not the real needs of the citizens of Thessaloniki”

The Secretary of Infrastructure of PASOK-Movement for Change, Dimitris Sarigiannis, pointed out to Mr. Androulakis the section of the project at the height of the Meteora of the Municipality of Neapolis-Sykea where the preliminary study envisages the construction of a tunnel through which the existing road will pass. A particularly demanding intervention that raises questions about how the existing traffic will be ensured alongside the construction of the project.
