The press representative of SYRIZA-PS, Dora Avgeri, launched a fire against the government, strongly criticizing the government for its policies and choices in Health.
“The doctrine of “we will go where it comes” reflects the overall strategy of the ND-Mitsotakis government” asserts the press representative of SYRIZA-PS, Dora Avgeri, strongly criticizing the government for its policies and choices in Health.
“Before even completing 2 months as Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis has already confirmed those who claimed that he returned to the Ministry in question to speed up the dismantling of the NHS, in order to increase the profitability of the private sector,” she says in a statement.
“As if the price list for the afternoon surgeries wasn’t enough,” comments the SYRIZA-PS press representative, “the insured are once again asked to put their hands deep in their pockets in order to increase the profits of the pharmaceutical manufacturers and the owners of the diagnostic centers”. In particular, it states that “as the Panhellenic Medical Association reveals, the minister of the “five euro” has a plan ready to charge the insured 1 euro per referral for laboratory tests and 3 euros per referral for imaging tests”. All this, he adds, “only a few hours after it was shown that the cutter that was allegedly passed to prevent the prices of hundreds of widely used generic drugs from increasing excessively, was yet another communication ploy.” Mrs. Avgeri notes that “the much-advertised cutter only applies to 23.8% of medicines, with the result that in a series of widely consumed medicines, the participation of the insured may even triple.”
“But what can one expect from the Minister who sacrifices everything on the altar of profit of the few and turns patients into ‘experimental animals’, at the same time discrediting the medical staff with incredible cynicism”, he comments. Mrs. Avgeri mentions that the Federation of Associations of Hospital Doctors (OENGE) complains that “when he was asked about the long and exhausting work of anesthesiologists – with all that entails – Mr. Georgiadis allegedly replied: “Yes there is a risk, everything in life it is a risk””. “After the uproar caused by the related complaint, he hastens to deny it and threatens the doctors with lawsuits,” adds Ms. Augeri.
He notes that “things are now clear. And they have nothing to do only with how much ‘Adonis Georgiadis’ harms Health”. “The doctrine of “let’s go wherever it comes out” reflects the overall strategy of the ND-Mitsotakis government. A strategy accompanied by overt threats to anyone who dares to react,” he declares.
He finally emphasizes that “it will not pass them by” and that “SYRIZA-PS will defend in every way the supreme good of Health from the adventurism and cynicism of the government”.
