With five objections of unconstitutionality from SYRIZA, KKE, Hellenic Solution New Left and Niki and one call from the New Left to the forces of the progressive opposition to submit a motion of no confidence against the governmentthe three-day debate of the bill for the operation of branches of non-state universities in the Plenary began shortly after 10.00.
From the floor of the Parliament, the president of the K.O of the New Left, Alexis Haritsis, called on “SYRIZA, PASOK, KKE and Pleussi Eleftherias to submit a joint motion of no confidence against the government”, stressing that “the government violates relentlessly the Constitution which expressly states that the establishment of private universities is not allowed”.
The call of Mr. Haritsis was repeated at the beginning of the meeting by Mr Euclid Tsakalotoswith the Theodora Tzakri from SYRIZA to point out that “we file an objection of unconstitutionality on the basis of the disputed articles”.
It should be noted that in the vote that preceded the competent committee and is a first sample of the final stance of the parties in the vote that will be held on Friday night, the ND voted positively, SYRIZA, PASOK, New Left, KKE, Spartans and Niki voted against while Hellenic Solution and Freedom Sailing were reserved.
What about the motion of no confidence
In order to table a motion of no confidence, it must be signed by at least one-sixth (1/6) (that is, 50 deputies) of the deputies and clearly include the issues on which the debate will be held. The motion of no confidence is submitted to the president in a public meeting of the Parliament.
