By rejecting the five objections of unconstitutionality, testified at the beginning of the meeting by SYRIZA, KKE, Hellenic Solution, New Left and NIKI the discussion continues in the plenary session on the bill for the operation of non-state universities, with the Minister of Education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis pointing out that “what we are doing is completely compatible with the constitutional text”.

“The fate of this country for us and for me is not the fear that some of you in this room carry as its censors. It is to embrace the future and open to it without fear with a strong hope and boldness for tomorrow. This is what the Greek citizens want. This is what we will serve as well”, he pointed out during his placement Minister of Education, defending the legislation, adding that Greece along with Cuba are the only countries in the world “which have a ban on non-state universities”.
He had taken the floor earlier the president of the K.O of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos arguing that it is a bill “upgrading colleges”. “Adherence to the Constitution is a condition for democracy, that’s why we filed the objection of unconstitutionality and we expect all progressive parties to do so,” he emphasized, leaving sharp points to PASOK – which did not file an objection of unconstitutionality – with him adding “you are unconstitutional government and you do them for your cronies and christen the meat fish”.
“It is the first time in history that a national parliament will say that the national constitution is backing down in the face of an alleged conflict with European law,”it shone PASOK MP, Panagiotis Doudonis, with him responding to the arguments regarding the constitutionality of the proposed regulation: “Opinions are like x-rays. They should be read by radiologists. It’s like the patient Googling his illness and the doctor not seeing it.”
The Minister of Education raised the gauntlet, responding to the parliamentary representative of Harilaou Trikoupis, against the background of what happened yesterday, during the meeting of the PASOK parliamentary group: “Mr. Doudonis, it was a pleasure to hear you disagree with Venizelos and Alivizato. You use the Constitution as a fig leaf. It is completely understandable that your position today is a natural continuation of what happened yesterday.”
“You will go down in history, Mr. Pierrakakis, as the only Minister who passed this law by writing the country’s Constitution on his old shoes, this burden is heavy. You’re destroying the Constitution, you’ll carry that for the rest of your life.”emphasized by New Left Euclid Tsakalotos.
