The farmers asked for no change of land use in Thessaly, and expressed the need to do all the necessary works to achieve this goal
No substantive answers in terms of schedules for the completion of the compensations for the damages of 2023, the 15-member committee of the Thessalian farmers left the Maximos Palace and the meeting with the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as stated by the President of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa, Rizos Maroudas.
The farmers asked that there be no change of land use in Thessaly, and they expressed the need to do all the necessary works to achieve this goal.
Mr. Maroudas stated that there has been no substantial update on the master plan of the Dutch company arguing that “there seems to be a big delay in the schedule”.
Regarding the payment of direct aid, he noted that according to the information they had, will have been paid by the end of June. “We need immediate liquidity since the new growing season is starting” he said among other things.
According to him, there was information that there will be compensation for the tree crops that were destroyed.
He pointed out that PPC’s electricity needs to be regulated, which according to him is causing power outages for producers, even though a relevant regulation has been submitted to the Parliament.
Finally, as Mr. Maroudas mentioned speaking about Evros, there are delays in repairing the damages.
“Mitsotakis to farmers: Many of the requests are fair”
As the prime minister pointed out earlier “mostly we agree that many of the farmers’ demands are fair and we have made a great effort as far as possible to be able to satisfy them. We still have a lot of work ahead of us.”
“We also take into account views of farmers and ranchers on the refund of excise duty on agricultural oil of 2025″ added the prime minister and asserted that “what we are interested in is that the return be as fair and efficient as possible” emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
