Pavlos Marinakis criticized the economic program of SYRIZA presented yesterday by Mr. Kasselakis on SKAI’s “TODAY” show, saying “history repeats itself as a farce”.

In particular, when asked to comment on the economic program of SYRIZA presented yesterday by Mr. Kasselakis, Mr. Marinakis stated that “as far as the financial program is concerned, history repeats itself as a farce. The exercise of economic policy is not a monopoly, Mr. Tsipras did it. From Mr. Tsipras to Mr. Kasselakis, the hard and difficult reality has intervened. There is the concept of reality which demolishes populism. It is unworthy of comment.”

Then Mr. Marinakis added that “from Mr. Tsipras to Mr. Kasselakis, two governments intervened. SYRIZA came to power with corresponding promises in many cases such as we will tax big business and as a result they have raised over 25 tax rates and left unemployment eight points higher than we have at 10% and a country with a minimum wage of 650 euros. Reality continued with Mr. Mitsotakis and we learned how important it is to have a strong economy. All these billions that came to our country would not have come if our country was in the situation it was in 2015”.

Asked about the homophobic attack in Thessaloniki, Mr. Marinakis said that the phenomenon also exists in other areas of the territory, which started some years ago when there was a climate of intolerance and anger. The state functions as arrests are made and laws are enforced.

“It remains a worrying fact that a large part of the political system expresses intolerance and many times not only on the extreme right, many times on the other extremes as well. Hate is not only expressed with racist expressions but also with attacks on journalists, with misogyny.

We all have a responsibility to understand that coping is not just about repression. I am referring to the rhetoric of the extreme right and also of SYRIZA with the targeting of journalists” said the government representative.
