The main axes of the holistic development program for Western Attica, with a total budget of 546.3 million euros, were presented by Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardaliato the Mayors of the five municipalities of the region, with the aim of specializing additional projects that will improve the daily life of citizens.

“We are here to mark the start of a new day for Western Attica, with a cooperative spirit and an appetite for work,” said Mr. Hardalias, noting that for the first time an integrated program is being implemented for the region that focuses on 6 priority pillars, with more than 65 major works, which will be a legacy for future generations.

The program concerns “5+1” sectors: road safety and infrastructure, flood defense and protection, environment and quality of life, social cohesion, strengthening entrepreneurship, innovation and digital transformation. In addition, an additional “reservoir” of 30 million euros has been budgeted for the development of high-priority projects for each of the five Municipalities.

“The “65+” projects will change the image of Western Attica, an area that until now was, indeed, one of the most unfair in the Basin. We use every last euro from every available financial tool and implement our commitment to balanced development, security and a better quality of life for all our fellow citizens in all the neighborhoods of Attica, proving in practice that no one is going to be left behind”, emphasized the Regional Mayor Attica and invited the Mayors of the region to submit their own proposals in this direction, with specific milestones and clear timetables. “This is a huge bet for us, for a new page for Western Attica”, underlined Mr. Hardalias.

As pointed out, in May, a detailed presentation of the program for Western Attica is expected, to the local authorities and agencies of the region, at a special event by the Region of Attica.

The Mayors of Aspropyrgou Ioannis Ilias, Elefsinas Giorgos Georgopoulos, Mandras-Eidyllias Armodios Drikos, Megareon Panagiotis Margetis, Phylis Christos Pappous, the Special Secretary of the Attica Region, Elena Rapti, the Deputy Governor of West Attica Kleanthis Varelas and officials of the Attica Region participated in the meeting. .
