“A heinous crime that reminds us of our just demand for German reparations, which I put to the German Ambassador when I met him and which I will fervently claim,” emphasizes Mr. Kasselakis.
Today the president of SYRIZA – PS Stefanos Kasselakis is a retired soldier.
As he posted on his personal account on “X”, he got permission to visit Distomo, the place where 229 Greeks were massacred by the Nazis.
“A heinous crime that reminds us of our just demand for German reparations, which I put to the German Ambassador when I met him and which I will fervently claim,” emphasizes Mr. Kasselakis.
In detail, the post of Stefanos Kasselakis:
“Today I am a retired soldier.
Let some “patriotic” shouts mock the fact that I am already entitled to exit with a term of only 20 days. Let them also laugh at the fact that I only serve 20 days.
I didn’t make the law. I respect him. As I will abide by any law of the land, from any position.
So I chose to take my exit for a specific reason: To visit Distomos. Where in 1944, the Nazis slaughtered 229 Greek civilians. A heinous crime which reminds us of our just demand for German reparations, which I put to the German Ambassador when I met him, and which I will vigorously assert.
Today I am a retired soldier.
Let some “patriotic” shouts mock the fact that I am already entitled to exit with a term of only 20 days. Let them also laugh at the fact that I only serve 20 days.

I went to Distomo with the marching band in which I am participating, the band that will parade tomorrow in Thebes, to commemorate the Greek Revolution.
I went with the soldiers who enthusiastically accompanied me – because they are the real patriots of our country, because they are proud of our nation, even though they are disappointed in our country.
And while I was preparing to march for my country, some paraded with homophobic effigies – carnivals.
I wonder: What exactly are they afraid of? Why so angry?
One that joins that of so many newspapers and sites. A thick porridge of fake news, mockery, daily publicity.
A whole System with a common goal of a single person. This is what happens when no one is holding you back.
Greek and Greek,
Dear fellow citizen,
Know that I respect you. From any position, and especially from the position of your ordinary fellow citizen.
Respecting you means that I will never manipulate you, edit reality, hide facts, alter, scheme, cover up like I am doing right now.
Think about the truth you experience, think about the absurdity they present to you as normal, underestimating your intelligence.
And as I respect you, I also respect your children, whom I met these days and with whom I have the honor to serve at this time.
They are fantastic children, young people who seek a society with meritocracy and dignity. They see a life predetermined for them, a game set up, while they want to be able to dream – not outside, here, in their homeland, in Greece!
In front of these children, the professionals in power will stand and make tomorrow the same predictable, long-winded statements about March 25. Big words, when in practice they violate the Constitution, edit the truth and confuse the right.
Because for them power is an end in itself. It is the only raison d’être they understand.
Distomo 1944. Kalavryta 1821.
Every day we wake up we choose what Greeks we want to be.
Outside my chamber there are a few words of Georgios Drosinis:
“Honorable land, they have excavated it
to found a Parthenon,
glorified earth, they have turned pink
blood at Suli and at Marathon,
ground to bury consecrated relics
only a little soil, Greek soil!’
This soil is indeed sacred, because it is the soil of our heroes. Because it is the soil that gave birth to us, the soil on which we walk every day, the soil on which we build our lives.
Some people want this soil as their chessboard and us as manipulated pawns.
It’s not a chessboard.
It’s a homeland.
It’s ours.
And we will bring her to the Light.
*The moments are so critical now, that I decided to address you live with a video that will follow.
