“We took the minimum wage at 650 euros and raised it to 830 euros. We had said that we would go for consecutive increases in the minimum wage and we would reach it up to 950 euros. Another commitment of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is being implemented from Monday,” Deputy Minister of Labor Vassilis Spanakis said on SKAI and on the show “Kalimera” with George Autias.

“A 27.7% increase in the minimum wage since the first day we took over the helm of the country is a reality. But the main thing is that the increase in the minimum wage entails more than 20 benefits”, he added.

“At this moment, a good basis is also being laid for the calculation of the three years”, Mr. Spanakis emphasized, pointing out that in this way the government’s goal is being followed “to bring the average salary to 1500 euros at the end of the four years and the minimum salary to 950 euro”.

“The minimum wage is received by 20-22% of the employed, approximately 560 thousand workers, when last year it was received by 24%. This means that year after year the minimum wage workers are decreasing and the average wage is increasing. Today the average salary is at 1251 euros”, underlined the Deputy Minister of Labour.

“The minimum wage comes to correct distortions of the past and benefit the disposable income of all workers,” added Mr. Spanakis.

For EAS, the Deputy Minister of Labor clarified that “a serious study is being done, there will be announcements. The distortions and injustices in the EAS will be resolved.”
