The head of the New Democracy Eurogroup and vice-president of the EPP Parliamentary Group called for the defeat of populist and extreme anti-European voices.
“The June 9 European elections are not an opportunity for a vote of protest or discomfort, we should not abstain in an emotional way, because something happened and the MP did not serve me or the minister and I did not agree, it is not a punitive vote, it is a creative vote, for Greece within Europe”, he pointed out the head of the Eurogroup of New Democracy and vice-president of the Parliamentary Group of the European People’s Party, Vangelis Meimarakiss, during his speech at an event of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Thessaloniki.
“In these European elections, we must raise the Greek flag even higher and this can only be done by New Democracy with Kyriakos Mitsotakis,” said Mr. Meimarakis and asked for the defeat of populist and extreme anti-European voices.
The discussion was opened by Member of Parliament and Secretary of International Relations of the New Democracy, Tassos Hatzivasileiou, who took over the coordination and noted that the European elections are not haval elections.
The director of the Foundation addressed a greeting Konrad Adenauer, Marian Wendtwho said that the European elections are a particularly important election that concerns us all.
In his greeting, the governor of Central Macedonia and vice-president of the European Union of Regions, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, stressed the need for the European Union to proceed with changes after the European elections.
“If it doesn’t change, if it doesn’t give a role and a say to the citizens, if it doesn’t include them in the processes of decisions and solutions, then the future of Europe itself will be bleak. So, changes must be made and these changes can only be made by the European People’s Party and the New Democracy,” said Mr. Tzitzikostas.
Then MEPs from New Democracy took the floor
“In Europe we are protagonists for our national issues for the special interests of our homeland and with the ND and Kyriako Mitsotakis we can make a difference”, stressed Manolis Kefalogiannis.
“We are here to talk about Europe’s challenges, to highlight the work done in previous years and to see what we can do even more for a Europe of social cohesion, peace and security,” said Stelios Kymbouropoulos.

The Europe that prepares the necessary changes for the common agricultural policy, protects our health, through all those legislations that favor the protection of the environment and empowers the consumer, the Europe that cares about the lowest energy prices, for our Europe”, write down Maria Spyrakis.
“It is necessary that we all go to the polls, not to underestimate the electoral contest. Is very important. We believe that Europe is our home, the future of the next generations depends on the decisions that will be made in Europe,” said Eliza Vosenberg.

These are elections in which it is decided who will represent our country in Europe and there must be a strong representation of the New Democracy and at the same time a climate of political stability must be consolidated with a strong percentage for the ND and Kyriakos Mitsotakis”, said the MEP candidate Dimitris Tsiodras on the sidelines of the event.
