The government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, expressed his condemnation of the incident of the beating of the member of the Hellenic Solution, Vassilis Grammenos, by the independent member of parliament, Konstantinos Floros, in a statement, speaking of practices of the extremes that are not consistent with Democracy.

Mr. Marinakis, among other things, said that the acts of violence, the practices of the extremes and the vulgar rhetoric of populism, return us to times that the country has left behind irretrievably and society has rejected as a whole.

The statement of Mr. Marinakis in detail:

What happened in the Parliament today is unacceptable and uncharacteristic and not consistent with the Democratic polity.

MPs turned the Parliament premises into a ring and a party leader indirectly but clearly threatens MPs, warning them not to go to church on Easter.

The acts of violence, the practices of the extremes and the vulgar rhetoric of populism, return us to times that the country has left behind irretrievably and society has rejected as a whole.

We must, as a political system and as a society, stand up against – and we will continue to do so – all these logics that have led the country to the brink of the cliff.

We are against violence, against the phenomena of democratization, against thuggery and threats.
