The Archbishop emphasized, among other things, the cooperation required between Church and State and pointed out that “everyone has their opinions, they stick to their opinions and fight for them”
“We have fixed lines and our fixed lines are the Gospel, the word of God, the positions of the Church. We don’t do what Velopoulos or any politician tells us.” was the message sent by Archbishop Hieronymos from Delesi, where together with the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, they visit Church structures.
When asked by journalists if there is a “Christian meter”, he answered “no, never. Only love, forgiveness, fellowship and cooperation” said the archbishop, emphasizing the cooperation required between Church and State.
“In these times, cooperation is necessary. There are many things that separate us that make us different, but we are looking at how we can move forward with this cooperation,” he said.
“Our church calls everyone to love one another and respect one another. Everyone fights alone and with others”noted Archbishop Hieronymos.
“There is the word of God, the church says I do not discriminate. We must understand that there is a difference in dealing with the issues. We love all people” underlined Archbishop Hieronymos, arguing that “everyone has their opinions, they stick to their opinions, they fight for them, time will tell”.
She also added that the Church always moves with what the Gospel and the word of God tell us.
“I can’t go into things that the Gospel doesn’t say and he can have his opinions, I can’t identify with personal interests the with positions that tomorrow will have no value”, he said characteristically.
He also answered a question about the circulars that the Church will send ahead of Easter, that he will do what he does every year. “We don’t move based on tomorrow, today or yesterday, we move based on what the Gospel tells us and the word of God.”
