The registration deadline for the postal voting platform expired at midnight on Holy Monday, with the final number of registrants exceeding 200,000 from 128 different countries around the world.
Specifically, the total number of registrants reached 202,556, of which 153,322 (75.7%) are residents within the territory, while 49,234 (24.3%) are Greeks living abroad.
The countries with the highest number of registrations are Germany with 9,578 registrants, the United Kingdom with 9,090, the USA with 3,857, Belgium with 3,491, the Netherlands with 3,119 and Cyprus with 2,808.
The Minister of the Interior, Niki Kerameos, in her post on X, states among other things: “For the first time in the history of our modern Republic, there will be no practical obstacle to the exercise of the right to vote! We sincerely thank the Citizens for their assistance in this the first implementation of postal voting in our country, a valuable tool that deepens Democracy.”
