Those who respect the law are our allies, those who do not respect it will be against us, said the Minister of Rural Development
“We are not going to back down no matter what they say and whoever they are who are illegal”, repeated the Minister of Rural Development and Food Lefteris Avgenakis, in an interview with Nikos Andritsos, on SKAI radio, referring to the controls and the market.
In fact, on the occasion of the cases detected yesterday in Larissa and Corinth with the Greekization of Amnoerifians, he emphasized that “whoever wants to abide by the rules we will be allies, whoever does not abide by them will be against us”.
The YPAAT noted that the extraordinary checks by the mixed echelons of the YPAAT in which the Ministry’s Food and Meat Directorates, ELGO-DIMITRA, EFET, the local levels of the DAOK and, if necessary, the assistance of judicial, port and police authorities participate, have yielded significant results.
He recalled that the extraordinary checks of the mixed levels started on January 18, when by his decision the responsibilities that were fragmented in various services of the HYPAAT were unified and indicatively he mentioned what concerns milk, while there were imports of about 30 barrels per day, after the controls, the imports of milk and milk by-products decreased to 5-6 barrels, as a result of which the price to the producer also increased.
The fines that have been imposed, he noted, exceed 2 million euros and he stressed that market controls will continue.
We achieved joint progress on the changes to the CAP
Regarding the CAP, he referred to the coordinated movements of our country within the EU, noting that on the initiative of Greece, the alliance of the nine Mediterranean countries of the EU, known as EUMED9, was activated for issues of Agriculture and Fisheries, which usually met for foreign policy issues and economy and has already met five times. . “The result was to gain common momentum in the issues of the primary sector,” the minister emphasized.
At the same time, the 19 proposals submitted by Greece for changes to the CAP, as it had realized in time the difficulties in implementing the Common Agricultural Policy, were fully adopted by the European People’s Party
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications noted the decisive role that Brussels’ decisions have in the daily lives of European citizens and, of course, Greeks as well, and called on the rest of Greece’s parties to mobilize the Eurogroups to which they belong to contribute to the effort that has been launched for changes to the CAP with the aim its simplification.
We do not need a CAP hostile to the farmer, said Lefteris Avgenakis, pointing out that the producer should be in the field and produce and not waste his time in the cogs of the bureaucracy. He noted that environmental protection and rural development are not incompatible concepts and must and can be in harmony.
