In a statement regarding her swearing-in yesterday, she claims that she has the right to use the name “Macedonia” citing the right to self-determination, but maintains that she did not violate the country’s Constitution, as she signed the official text of the presidential oath with the constitutional name of the country.
In a relevant announcement from the Office of Gordana Silianovska, the following are mentioned:
“In her public appearances, the Macedonian president has the right to use the name Macedonia, as an act of individual right to self-determination and self-determination, respecting basic human rights and freedoms and in accordance with European values ​​and principles.
President Gordana Silianovska-Davkova will adhere to the use of the official constitutional name.
The official text of the oath, as delivered by the services of the Parliament, was signed with the country’s constitutional name, as defined by the Constitution.
Over the past five years, Macedonian institutions have almost fully fulfilled their obligations arising from the Prespa Agreement, and the President expects all Macedonian partners to respect the bilateral and multilateral obligations they have undertaken towards the country.”
