Former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev expressed his opposition to the attitude of the new president of North Macedonia, Gordana Silianovska, and to her referring to the country as “Macedonia” and not by its constitutional name, calling on her to respect the Constitution and the Agreement of Prespa.

The former prime minister of North Macedonia in an interview spoke of legal responsibilities arising from the Prespa Agreement, the consequences of which the citizens of the country will pay.

“Responsibility is not only political, but also legal. And the consequences are decades of enmity with neighboring countries, with the European Union, with the United States and the UN. All this will have far-reaching consequences for the daily life and general level of Macedonians and other ethnic communities in North Macedonia,” said Zaev.

He then emphasized that “I appeal to them to remove themselves from the party mantle and realize as soon as possible that they now bear responsibility for the state and the citizens. The government respects the Constitution, international agreements and laws as an example to the entire nation and respects them fully or as a government takes steps to annul or change them. »

Referring to previous statements of the new leadership, the former prime minister noted that “after all, Mickoski and President Gordana Silianovska have repeated many times that they do not intend to cancel the Prespa Agreement, even though they do not agree with it. Therefore, as holders of the highest state offices, they should respect the Constitution, the international Prespa Agreement and the laws. They should look forward to the future of North Macedonia and the Macedonian people.”
