The government representative began with the European Commission’s report on Greece Pavlos Marinakis the established briefing of political editors.

As he pointed out, for Greece in its spring economic forecasts, the Commission expects growth of 2.2% in 2024 and 2.3% in 2025, which is significantly higher than the Eurozone average (0.8% and 1.4% respectively) although lower than the forecasts of the Ministry of Finance (2.5% and 2.6%).

At the same time, Mr. Marinakis also made a special reference to the Commission’s forecasts for investments in our country, which will experience an increase of almost 7% in 2024, which means that Greece will be ranked first by a margin in terms of growth rate investments for the years 2024 and 2025.

“Exports of goods will increase more than fourfold at a rate of 4.2%, while unemployment is expected to decrease to 10.3% in 2024 and 9.7% in 2025”, he noted, while also repeating the commitment of Kyriakos Mitsotakis for a minimum wage of € 950 by the end of four years.

On the accuracy front, according to the government spokesperson, there is gradual price containment of supermarket products in April 2024.

“The biggest price reductions of 4.57% are recorded in baby and children’s food, followed by stationery, diapers, detergents and cleaning products, butter, eggs, and dairy products. Bigger increases are recorded in soft drinks, cookies, chocolates and sugary, alcoholic drinks, ready meals, nuts and snacks, increases which are due – mainly – to international prices of raw materials and mainly to sugar and cocoa prices,” said the Mr. Marinakis.

The government representative concluded his introductory statement by emphasizing:

“Tomorrow, at 10:00, the prime minister will attend the presentation of the “Digital School” by the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, which will take place in Veria, at the day high school with high school classes of Rhizomat”.

“It is incomprehensible that SYRIZA insists so much that the memoranda with North Macedonia be voted on now – We raise our hands”

To a question about SYRIZA’s position regarding North Macedonia, Pavlos Marinakis responded in high tones, strongly accusing the official opposition party.

“We really put our hands up! This choice of SYRIZA is completely incomprehensible, since the president of North Macedonia does not accept and does not even respect the basic condition of the Prespa Agreement. Just imagine if we as Greece had done everything and the other side behaved as it is now. Therefore, you can understand how justified the Greek government is in not rushing to vote on the three memoranda of cooperation with North Macedonia.”
