A broad meeting aimed at the immediate, massive and coordinated mobilization of all agencies in the event of a fire on Mount Aigaleo was held at noon by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias.

Mr. Kikilias pointed out that this year’s very difficult fire season all involved agencies are required to work closely together and be on maximum alert even when the Fire Risk Prediction Map is on a low scale. For this reason, as he emphasized, mechanical machinery and water carriers, volunteer groups and all the structures involved in the management of a fire must be in constant readiness and of course evacuation plans drawn up down to the last detail.

Special mention was also made in the works of cleaning and opening fire zones, e.gth are implemented in the area, as well as in aerial surveillance with drones to identify arsonists – both intentional and negligent – for whom penalties and fines have been tightened since the beginning of the month.

It is recalled that the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has held similar meetings with representatives of OTAs, the security forces and the involved bodies of the municipalities around Parnitha, Ymittos and Penteli.

The meeting was attended by the CPPP Deputy Minister, Evangelos Tournasthe General Secretary of Civil Protection, Vasilis Papageorgiouthe General Director of Forestry of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Evangelos Goudoufasthe Fire Chief, Theodoros Vayas, mayors and vice-mayors of the Municipalities of Ag.
