The Minister of Health reminded that even two months ago there was a corresponding announcement, he had intervened and the decision was not implemented.
The anesthesiologists of the Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital are also suspending regular surgeries from May 27, following a similar decision made by the anesthesiologists of Agia Sophia.
As they report, there is a gradually worsening understaffing of doctors and nursing staff in the operating rooms and they are asking for immediate staffing.
For his part, the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis assured SKAI that the competition for anesthesiologists will be completed by May 25.
He expressed the assessment that in the coming days the doctors of the Children’s “Agia Sophia” will not proceed with the suspension from June 1 of the planned surgeries.
“My personal assessment is that in the next few days the decision to suspend from June 1 the planned surgeries at the “Agia Sophia” Children’s Hospital will be cancelled,” the Minister of Health told SKAI.
“We have announced the positions of anesthesiologists, we have run the competition and by May 25th we will have the result, we will re-announce on the spot all the positions that remain vacant, while doctors have been informed”, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized.
He reminded that two months ago there was a corresponding announcement from the Children’s Aglaia Kyriakou, he had intervened and the decision was not implemented.
