The president of SYRIZA-PS, in an interview with Action 24, clarified that he is not going to make agreements at the level of leaders, while regarding “where do you belong” he repeated that he will file it before the European elections.
Optimistic that he will achieve a good result in the European elections, the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis appeared speaking to Action 24 and repeated that on the evening of June 9 Greece will be dazzled.
He added: “If we see a rate of over 20% I will be very satisfied and we are close to achieving it. But don’t forget that three months ago you had us finished. Let the Greek people decide.”
He reiterated that he is making an opening to the entire progressive world that can form a strong opposition on June 9. However, he clarified that “we are not going to make agreements at the level of leaders. SYRIZA will remain SYRIZA, it will make its Congress statute and open its doors. The party yearbook will not be a factor, on the contrary, the offer and meritocracy will be”.
To a question about Nikos Androulakis’ response that he did not sleep at night when he heard that Stefanos Kasselakis would not call him the day after the elections, he replied: “The ironic reaction shows insecurity. And it does not fit into a large faction. I am not a child of the party I am not here to have a career in politics. Everyone is busy and mocking SYRIZA and Stefanos Kasselakis, the only one who has not received a single euro from taxes and the only party that does not have bank loans. On June 9th we will have a fresh mandate for let’s move on to the great democratic party that will change the place”.
Regarding Mr. Androulakis, he also said that “there is no personal chemistry and no will for a summit agreement”. Regarding the attack made by the prime minister with personal characteristics, he replied: “The accusation of arrogance is a huge irony coming from him. Whoever has the fly gets bitten. I am glad that the faction that accuses SYRIZA of toxicity is the one that instrumentalizes toxicity. We they have said leeches, anti-Greeks, national underdogs, the minister of the map said to me. It is time for these chairs to realize that they are not local lords, they are servants”.
About the wherewithal he told him that he would submit it before the European elections and added: “They are the ones who owe 400 million and they cannot explain how they pay Mr. Greenberg who I know is very expensive. Can the ND show us the wherewithal of it, Mr. Mitsotakis should show us where he is from?”. As for whether he has political chemistry with the prime minister and if this affects him, he answered that “in matters of the country’s security, chemistry is not a factor, if it is in a situation to protect the lives of Greeks then he will have no problem talking to the prime minister” .
Regarding the Macedonian, he said: “The protocols are positive for both geopolitical and economic reasons and Mrs. Bakoyannis also said that she does not have a problem. Just as the Prime Minister’s father did not. ‘So what did they wait for all these years? You should ask the prime minister. Alexis Tsipras and Nikos Kotzias took this brave initiative, on the contrary, the prime minister politicized it. If it is beneficial, let the prime minister meet with his like-minded people in Skopje they may disagree with Northern Greece, but we didn’t use them. They know that the Prime Minister is not telling the truth about the Prespa Agreement. I am sure that he was voted in they themselves created the issue themselves to solve it now”.
To the accusation that he lives too much and is apolitical, he replied: “We are in 2024, we are the most over-indebted country with the biggest inequalities, there needs to be a political change and we will break eggs, we need to resist a system of power. Personally I will not change what I am. If you want a wooden word and it’s not available to the world, find another one”
As for going to the bouzoukis, he replied: “Didn’t Andreas Papandreou go to the bouzoukis? I’m from the living room, I’m from the port, I consider myself a popular leftist. With mathematical precision, the country’s problems will be different in four years. what the citizen should choose is the character of the politician, although by the way I know it better than the rulers. And the best way is to choose directly.
I’m breaking out, melting shoes.” About the lifestyle, he answered: “Did I leak personal information about my house or my marriage? Others leak them. What to do; I present them myself so that they cease to be preoccupying. What is needed is an unconventional message coming from society.”
When asked about internal party balances, he said: “The grassroots is above all the institutions and above the president. We made an innovative process for choosing MEPs from the grassroots. We have a ballot of progressive excellence. Practically speaking, the president of the party chose not to have power. Who else gave power to the world in this way?”.
When asked if he would support Katerina Sakellaropoulou for a second term, he said: “I will answer at the right time.”
Regarding the relationship with Alexis Tsipras: Our relationship is fine, nothing has changed. The party and I have supported the Agreement. If he invites me to the event he is organizing I will go.”
To the accusations that he is changing the ideological character of the party, he replied: “We are in the process of renewing the party which will be completed by the end of the year. Many of the changes were in the statute but had not been implemented. The statute says that SYRIZA is driven by the radical left to the progressive center. And on some issues such as taxation, the modern left also covers. You cannot have an interventionist state. It is not an issue of ideology modern left intervenes and solves big issues”.
He spoke about the criteria with which he will choose ministers: “There are three criteria: empathy, I want to have people next to me who in unsuspecting time I have heard that they have contributed. The second criterion is ethics. The third is technocratic competence. Some of those who will form the future government are already in parliament and others are in think tanks”.
