Statement by the Press Representative of the New Democracy Nikos Romanos
“It is now difficult to decide whether in SYRIZA they simply choose to consciously distort everything or if they really do not know how to read basic economic data” says the representative of the ND Nikos Romanos, responding to a statement by the official opposition.
“How else can one comment on the latest announcement by the official opposition party that talks about “7 small businesses that have received aid from the Recovery Fund, ostentatiously ignoring the thousands of small and medium-sized businesses that have received over 1 billion euros in aid from the Recovery Fund ?”
However, in the event that complete ignorance really applies, we invite them to read the real data:
- So far, 293 loans have been contracted through the Recovery & Resilience Fund, of which 140 concern micro, small and medium enterprises (48% of all TAA loans).
- By the end of April 2024, more than 347,000 small and medium enterprises had joined various development programs and actions, with the total support (public expenditure) exceeding 1 billion euros.
- More than 400,000 freelancers and small businesses with up to 20 employees were financed by the European Social Fund of the NSRF 2014-2020 (amounting to 420 million euros).
- For the new NSRF 2021-2027, approval has already been signed by the Deputy Minister for an amount of more than half a billion euros, which is directed exclusively at small and medium-sized enterprises (creation of new jobs, subsidies for hiring unemployed people from small and medium-sized enterprises with coverage of insurance contributions as well) .
“Once again, SYRIZA, which while in power destroyed the small and medium-sized businesses by holding an umbrella while it “rained” growth and overtaxing them, proves its audacity and inadequacy! In two weeks, the electorate will give its answer again. We are moving forward” he concludes Mr. Romanos.
The announcement of the Press Office of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance earlier
“Is it possible for someone who holds the status of Minister of Development to speak at the European Conference of small and medium-sized enterprises and ask, from the stage of the conference, not to divide enterprises into large and small ones?
Obviously yes, as long as his name is Kostas Skrekas and he participates in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. And all this at a time when the figures concerning small and medium enterprises are overwhelming. When only seven (!) small businesses have received aid from the Recovery Fund, Mr. Skrekas asks that no distinction be made between small and large!
However, nothing alienates us anymore. After all, Mr. Skrekas is used to such stunts. He is the same one who on Easter informed Greek men and women that the solution to the high price of lamb is…lighter lamb, as Mr. Mitsotakis also did from the floor of the Parliament on feta. “Excellence” is not hidden…”
