In the final stretch of the European elections, PASOK-Movement for Change state that they are optimistic about the increase in their percentages and that the goal of winning second place is achievable.

This was made clear by the parliamentary representatives of the party, Dimitris Manzos and Michalis Katrinis, who together with the press representative, Thanasis Glavina, started pre-election interviews in Harilaou Trikoupi. “We have evidence that the poll picture will turn around, such as increased rallying and a positive balance of inflows“, emphasized Mr. Glavinas.

The executives of PASOK-KINAL reported that the messages are positive from all over the country and called on those who have always supported the faction to contribute now for a good result with the main slogan in the party’s pre-election brochure and in the TV spots: “We can and we deserve more in Greece and Europe”.

They insisted that only PASOK-Movement of Change can be the reliable opposition to the ND of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and not the lifestyle opposition of SYRIZA.

They severely criticized the government on the occasion of the fine of the Independent Authority for the Protection of Personal Data AADPH in the Ministry of the Interior due to the leak of emigrants’ emails and directly demanded the resignation of the minister Nikis Kerameos, for whom they declared that she is exposed and they have no confidence in her because he “lies”.

“Instead of questioning the conclusion of the Independent Authority and leaving hints for an appeal to the CoE, he should comply,” said the PASOK-KINAL press representative. Michalis Katrinis emphasized that there is an attempt to cover up, speaking of a triangular relationship between the Ministry of the Interior, Maximos Palace and the offices of the ND.

However, Mr. Glavinas, Manzos and Katrinis made it clear that they do not question the electoral process or the result that will emerge. They also left open the possibility for PASOK to discuss the extension of postal voting in national elections as well if it is evaluated in the European elections and the political conditions of trust are met.

Their criticism of accuracy had the same high tones where they criticized the ND government and the prime minister that in the recent debate in the Parliament they evaded by buying time with the letter to European officials while last September he assured that the accuracy is imported and we would finish by the Christmas. “The government is characterized by inaction, weakness, inability to control the speculation paid by citizens every week who buy less and less products,” they stressed.

They proposed the creation of a single Consumer Authority, a reduction in VAT on food while inflation is high and controls and fines that would prevent profiteering.

Dimitris Manzos referred to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by Israel’s bombardment, calling for an immediate ceasefire, while at the same time calling Hamas a terrorist organization that undermines the just demands of the Palestinians, “holding captive a people without a homeland”, as he said.

The responsible head of Foreign Affairs pointed out the permanent position of PASOK by Andreas Papandreou for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in order to find a permanent solution to the problem.

Regarding the post-election developments, Thanasis Glavinas reiterated the commitment of Nikos Androulakis that he will take dialogue initiatives for cooperation with neighboring political forces of the Center-Left on the basis of programmatic and political agendas. “Only PASOK guarantees the road map of this process”, emphasized the press representative of PASOK-KINAL.
