The Emir of Qatar is making his first official visit to our country, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thania few weeks after the prime minister’s visit Kyriakou Mitsotakis in Doha.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his appreciation for Qatar’s role in the Gulf region and especially in the Gaza crisis, while emphasizing that the good relations between Greece and Qatar contribute to stability in the region.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Athens. I would just like to point out how much we value the partnership between our two countries,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.
“I think this visit is really an opportunity to look at how we can further strengthen our relationship, especially in the economic field. Greece is currently making significant progress in terms of development. And of course, we will discuss regional developments”

For his part, the Emir of Qatar stated the following:
“I am very happy to be here for my first official visit. As you mentioned, we have a great historical relationship. But I believe that it is an opportunity for us to strengthen these bilateral relations, especially in terms of the economy and investments. I am really looking forward to this meeting. Of course, we will also discuss regional issues, especially what is happening in Gaza.”
Strengthening cooperation in a number of areas was also discussed, with an emphasis on the economy and investments, as well as energy and culture.
The prime minister analyzed the wide range of investment opportunities that Greece offers due to its geostrategic position, its connection to the markets of the Balkans, South-Eastern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea, as well as the initiatives it has undertaken in infrastructure development , such as FSRU Alexandroupolis.
