The interview of Giorgos Kougioumtsidis in detail
George, congratulations, you won the European Championship once again. How do you feel about this success?
“I feel very happy for this success and I would say that this victory gave me a motivation and a good psychology for the Olympic Games”
Three consecutive gold medals. An achievement that is historic for Greece! How important is it to you that you write History?
“Initially, the most important thing for me is to raise the Greek flag and make my family and the Greeks proud. The third gold in a row is a reward for my hard work and shows that I am consistent every year.”
In the event you took the gold and did not lose a technical point, what does this mean for you?
“The fact that I didn’t lose a single point shows that our work on my mistakes is effective. We will continue to work on them so that I can reduce them in the race”
You showed us that you are ready for the Olympics. What to expect in Paris?
“These games for me were like preparation for my ultimate goal of the Olympic Games. Together with my coaches we are working hard to be ready for Paris. I’m glad I’m in good shape. My goal in Paris is the gold medal.”
Where would you like to dedicate your medal?
“I would like to dedicate this medal to my coaches, my family and the whole world that supports me and is happy for me”
