“I could sit at the same discussion table with Androulakis, but not with Kasselakis”
“Of all the small parties that come down on Sunday at European electionsI believe we will be the biggest”, pointed out on Thursday morning the president of “Democrats», Andreas Loverdos, speaking to “Today” and to Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos.
Mr. Loverdos stated that “every day we have arrivals at our polling centers from ND and PASOK voters”, emphasizing, in fact, that he is very high in the opinion polls in terms of the popularity of the political leaders. “Of course I don’t know if the same will happen with the votes. It will be seen on the night of the European elections”.
Speaking afterwards about the abstention, he described it as something messy, which might be to the advantage of the smaller parties. “Just so you understand, I’ve heard people who don’t know that we have elections on Sunday,” he added.
“There is dissatisfaction in the second government term, however the difference between the ND and the opposition remains chaotic, while the difference between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the other leaders is even more chaotic. Clearly there is a quality problem in the political life of the country and this is the essence of our own existence”
“Androulakis has a personal leadership problem – Kasselakis is doing himself an injustice with his statements”
Asked about the other political leaders, Mr Loverdos spoke of the “personal leadership problem” facing Nikos Androulakis.
“This is not a personal conflict. The citizens say that, not me. They give him 4% in the popularity of political leaders”, underlined the president of the “Democrats”, while for Stefanos Kasselakis stated:
“The president of SYRIZA in his pre-election gathering in Thessaloniki had poor people under him and yet showed them wealth. If anything, he’s in a state of sloppiness, especially when you talk about ‘Al Capone’ and ‘Helladeborus’, referring to your political opponents.’
“However,” he added, “he is doing himself an injustice with his statements and actions. Are you asking a 35-year-old man with many years in his private life to immediately adapt to the complex legal life of Greece?”
Finally, he pointed out that he would not sit at the same discussion table with the president of SYRIZA, while with Nikos Androulakis he would.
“There must be a serious opposition voice. This means criticizing the government where appropriate, but also helping it in its decisions that are in the right direction. It will open the debate for the formation of a single progressive body, based on the political center”, he concluded.
