Voters are invited today from 07:00 to 19:00, to highlight the 21 candidates from 31 parties who will represent Greece in the European Parliament until 2029.

Voters who had chosen to vote by mail and ultimately did not do so or sent their ballot late will be able to vote by mail after 11:00 a.m. at the polling station where they are registered.

In total, 9,796,330 voters are registered in the electoral rolls, of which 4,755,686 are men and 5,040,644 are women. 111,500 new voters have the right to vote for the first time.

The right to vote in these elections is for Greek citizens aged 17 and over, i.e. those born before the year 2007.

Where and how we vote

In order to find out which polling station and school complex they are voting in, citizens can refer to the website of the Ministry of the Interior in the section “Learn where you vote” (https://mpp.ypes.gov.gr) or contact the telephone number: 213 136 1500 daily from 09:00 to 21:00.

Voters are recognized for exercising their right to vote by showing their police ID or the relevant temporary certificate from the competent authority or their passport or driver’s license or the individual health record of all insurance funds. The identification of the military and those serving in the security forces is done by their military or service identity cards.

It is noted that any “cut” ID cards are acceptable. Identification can also be done using the digital identity. European Union citizens are identified on the basis of a valid identity card or a valid passport or driver’s license.

In order to serve the voters, the ID Offices and Passport Offices of the Police Services, throughout the country, will operate today until 19:00.

Those who cannot stand the prolonged waiting in the queues outside the polling stations such as pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities, patients, etc., as well as those who cover service needs (such as officers of the Armed Forces, the Greek Police or employees performing duty for the elections ), have the right to ask the representative of the judicial authority to vote with absolute priority.

People with disabilities and voters with a physical weakness in general can exercise their right to vote in a special area located on the ground floor of the polling center where assistance dogs (guides) for people with disabilities are allowed to enter.

Voters can place up to four crosses next to their preferred candidates. However, if more than four crosses are placed, the ballot is not invalid but is counted in favor of the combination, without taking into account any preference cross.

Postal votes

As citizens go to the polls across the country, at the Postal Ballot Collection Center in Peristeri the selection committees open the ballots, and then the return envelopes to check if the necessary accompanying documents are present, i.e. the copy of the identity card and completed the declaration form. If the completeness of the electoral file is established, then the closed file containing the ballot is thrown into the final ballot box. If any accompanying document is missing, the ballot is left out of the ballot box and recorded as invalid.

When will the results be known?

During the voting, judicial agents will inform the Ministry of the Interior of the number of voters at approximately 11:30, 14:30 and 17:30, and then the Ministry will release the relevant figures grouped by district .

The counting and sorting of votes, including postal votes, will take place as usual, immediately after the polls close.

The first secure party power results are expected to be released by Singular Logic around 21:00 and the crusade around 23:00.
