One of new faces of the government that were announced by the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, are also Konstantinos Giulekaswho takes over Deputy Minister of Macedonia-Thrace in place of Stathis Konstantinidis.

Konstantinos Giulekas was born in Thessaloniki in 1960.

Initially, he obtained a degree in Law and then a degree in Political Science and Public Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a master’s degree in Criminal Law and a PhD candidate in Constitutional Law, at the Department of Political History of the School of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

During the government of Constantinos Karamanlis, he was Deputy Minister of the Interior, responsible for mass media issues. After the internal party elections of November 2009 and the election of Antonis Samaras to the position of President of the party, he served as Program Secretary of the ND until the announcement of his candidacy for the Municipality of Thessaloniki in July 2010.

After the end of the Municipal and Regional Elections of November 2010, he participates in the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Thessaloniki as the head of the major opposition with the “Creation Group for Thessaloniki” faction. At the beginning of 2011, he was appointed Deputy Head of Foreign Affairs in the ND and an alternate member of the Political Assembly of the European People’s Party (EPP).

He was a representative of the ND in the National Council of Foreign Policy, he was the Head of the Department of Justice of the ND as well as a member of several Parliamentary Committees, and a member of the Greek Parliamentary Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO.

At the same time, he was President of the Friendship Group of the Parliament of the Greeks with the Parliament of Great Britain, Secretary of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Albania and Member of the Friendship Groups of the Parliament of the Greeks with the National Parliaments of the USA, Iran, Israel and Bulgaria.

He is the third founding member of the Youth of N.D. in Northern Greece, member of MAKI, member of ONNED, member of DAP-NDFK since 1974. He was also a founding member of the Special Party Organizations (EKO) of Lawyers and Cultural Organizations of the Northern Greece.

He was deleted on February 13, 2012 by the ND together with other MPs of the party due to a vote against the second memorandum of support, only to rejoin it again on April 3 of the same year.
