“We are following the readings of the result of the European elections and the political developments it fuels”, says the general secretary of the KKE central committee, Dimitris Koutsoubas, in his article today in the newspaper “ta NEA sabbatokyriako”.

As Mr. Koutsoumbas points out, among others, “the important and at the same time hopeful element is that a current of questioning of the dominant policy implemented today by the ND government is strengthening, the liberation of labor-popular forces from the bourgeois parties is progressing, the alliance with the KKE.

In detail, the article of the article of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas:

“We are following the readings of the result of the European elections and the political developments it fuels. The important and at the same time hopeful element is that a current of questioning of the dominant policy implemented today by the ND government is strengthening, the liberation of labor-popular forces from the bourgeois parties is progressing, the alliance with the KKE is strengthening.

The KKE, in an undoubtedly negative political association, registered a new electoral rise – the fourth in a row – especially in Attica where it emerged as a third force again, but also in other regions, where important struggles developed.

This result might be considered a surprise by some who approach political developments in terms of opinion polls or political marketing, which was left over in the pre-election period. However, it does not surprise those who know that in recent years positive processes have been taking place “from below”, with the decisive contribution of the KKE.

Even the debate about the great abstention seeks to hide that, to a large extent, this choice, which we obviously do not applaud, has political characteristics with strong discredit and dissatisfaction with the government, the EU, the bourgeois political system. In fact, it is hypocritical for those who prevent and slander the participation in the movement, in the struggles during the remaining days of the year, to “cry” about abstaining from the elections. As far as we are concerned, we will give all our strength so that this world chooses the only path that changes things, that is, the path of participation in the union, the club, the games.

As for the “concern” expressed in relation to the result of the European elections in various countries, everyone pretends not to see that the result reflects the general protest against the policies of the EU, which is why governments and parties that are at the forefront of their implementation were voted down. Even if it remains a demand that this protest acquire more radical and anti-capitalist characteristics.

They also hide that the “incense” in the EU, especially by the so-called “left” parties, has left masses of people exposed to the supposedly “anti-systemic” rhetoric of far-right formations, who, as soon as they take government positions, become the best children of the system. And all this at a time when the EU is showing its reactionary character even more, with the policies of attacking social rights, the pseudo-labeled “green transition” or the transformation of the European economy into a “military one”, for which the European peoples are called to pay a heavy price.

At the same time, Mr. Mitsotakis insists on falsifying the message of the elections, interpreting it as an order to “accelerate” the anti-popular reforms, i.e. the policy that was condemned in the European elections. Could he have said anything different? Of course not, because this policy, which is based on the guidelines of the EU and to which practically all other parties agree, does not result from the electoral percentages, but from the “wants” of the big business groups.

On the other hand, the processes to deal with what is called the “asymmetry of the political system”, seek the formation of a strong, second pole, which will act as a “shock absorber” to absorb popular discontent, but also as a governmental alternative, which will continue the same course, when necessary. If there are difficulties so far, it is because the “restoration work” of the sinful social democracy is done with the same old materials and, rightly, does not seem to excite many.

The next day for the KKE is completely different, because we do not renew our appointment with the people from election to election. The greatest strength that he gave us, we are already depositing in the daily struggles against punctuality, for the signing of Collective Labor Agreements, to save public houses from auctions, for infrastructure and measures to protect the people, for the staffing of public hospitals, to do LARCO workers have jobs etc.

The KKE is on the other side, along with the majority of the suffering people, against the EU, its government and its parties. Its role and impact is always greater than its respective percentages, therefore its strengthening leads to multiply powerful fights with greater efficiency, in the specific conditions. The ND government will soon realize this, as well as those who want the popular factor in the corner.”
