The government is considering changes in ASEP and especially in the way recruitment is completed. The issue is the subject of a meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the political leadership of the Ministry of the Interior this afternoon (6:30 p.m.) at the Maximos Palace.

The Prime Minister spoke about the changes in ASEP in an interview with SKAI 100.3 shortly before the European elections. At the time, he specifically said that “there is a big structural problem, which must be tackled cross-party. I will put the matter in a public debate” adding that one idea is to simplify the mechanism.

According to the newspaper Ta Nea, 3 changes and an alternative are being considered for the new ASEP.

Digital documents: In the works is a new, according to Ta Nea, automated control model of the submitted documents.

Recruitment in 12 months: The government is looking at solutions by studying each stage of a recruitment competition, meaning that the Authority’s staff are due to be consulted on internal operational issues.

The “cutter”: A “cutter” in the number of places that the successful candidates will be able to choose from the next written pan-Hellenic competition is in the process of being implemented.

The auxiliary scheme: An alternative is also discussed: The creation of a mini ASEP, that is, the scenario of setting up an auxiliary organization as an aid in the management of the volume of recruitment, which will be under the supervision of the ASEP.
