Giorgos Tsipras was removed from his position as the director of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, after an interview in which he spoke about the need to reconstitute the progressive faction and the democratic functioning of the parties, as he stated in his statement.

On Monday it was announced removal of Thanasis Theocharopoulos.

It is noted that both Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Theocharopoulos ask Stefanos Kasselakis for the active participation of SYRIZA-PS in the discussion on the cooperation of the progressive forces.

“Ten minutes after a radio interview with the NRA, in which I supported the need to reconstitute the progressive space and the democratic functioning of the parties, I was informed “about the termination of the employment contract” by SYRIZA. It is rather a coincidence, following other coincidences,” says Giorgos Tsipras in his statement.

Obviously, the restructuring of the progressive space will proceed despite any obstacles because it is a demand of the overwhelming majority. Also, the conquest over decades for democracy in parties as well as in society will not bow to dangerous notions that refer only to rights and not at all to the much deeper and broader need for democracy, transparency and accountability. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t belong to the club of those who will never have to work again in their lives, but my political activity was almost never combined with a professional party relationship.”

Koumoundourou’s comment

From Koumoundourou, they stress about Giorgos Tsipras that until today he received the salary of the director of the parliamentary group, as he had requested it until the European elections in which he was a candidate. It is recalled that Thanos Moraitis was appointed on March 1st as the new director of the Parliamentary group in place of George Tsipras.
