A notice calling on the government to take action against her North Macedoniadue to the new violation of the Prespa Agreement by the president Christian Mickoski, issued the SYRIZA.

More detail:

SYRIZA – PS unequivocally condemns the new violation of the Prespa Agreement by the President of VMRO and Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Mickoski and calls on the Mitsotakis government to finally take the prescribed actions.

We would like to remind VMRO that the continuous violations of the Prespa Agreement in which it commits also result in prescribed sanctions that derive from international and Community law. The Prespa Agreement is a European acquis and full compliance with it is a necessary condition for North Macedonia’s accession to the EU. At the same time, we remind you of the American legislation of 2021 which provides for sanctions in case of violation of the Agreement.

The Mitsotakis government, instead of attempting to downplay this failure of its IX foreign policy, immediately internationalize the issue by bringing the new leadership of North Macedonia face to face with its responsibilities before the international community from the moment it continues to violate the Agreement. It is really sad that New Democracy and VMRO, the two sister parties in the EPP, are trying to torpedo an agreement which is a milestone for all the peoples of the Balkans in order to attract nationalist audiences.

The New Democracy government bears heavy responsibility for this new damage it causes to national interests, in the name of its irresponsible foreign policy, avoiding all these years any active involvement with the Agreement in order to maintain its internal party balances.
