Internal party elections on October 6 and 13 were proposed by Nikos Androulakis at the meeting of the Central Committee of PASOK, thus relieving for the time being the climate of polarization that prevailed after the European elections.

Mr. Androulakis proposed elections, closing the cycle of questioning against him, stressing that the debate that started on the night of the European elections, did not start on his own responsibility, but he has a responsibility to end it as soon as possible.

“On June 9, an unprecedented harakiri began in the faction. It is my duty to ensure unity and perspective. It is clear that the PASOK it will not be drawn into division and introversion. This debate was not started by me, but I have a responsibility as president to close it as soon as possible. I will not become a hostage to anyone inside and outside PASOK. I recommend that the elections be held on October 6th and the second round, if necessary, on October 13th and an open KE three weeks before for the presentation of nominations.”

The president of PASOK was sharp, speaking of a “catwalk of personal ambitions in the party, you leave, let me come because I will do it better, without there being another plan, another point of view, a strategic agreement”.

“Present” in the process of electing the president of PASOK, he declared Harry Doukasstating “I will be present in this effort with PASOK, as I have been throughout my public course” declared Mr. Doukas and continued saying: “I am not hiding, I am not afraid, I am coming forward and asking for your support. Let’s go win now. The goal is not to win over Kasselakis, but to defeat ND in the next national elections. We don’t need messiahs, we want a leadership that will do ‘together’.

Mr. Doukas reiterated that in any case he will remain mayor of Athens “it is a mutual advantage, it is a European acquis.”

At the same time, he noted that it is time “to reopen the cycle of transcendence. Not in a new cycle of introversion and discord. Yes, in a party of members, not executives and mechanisms.”

As expected, he announced his candidacy for the leadership of PASOK Pavlos Geroulanos.

In particular, speaking at the party’s Central Committee, Mr. Geroulanos said: It will be an honor for me to claim the vote of my members and friends. I am asking to lead the charge to present a plan that will become a social majority. And I ask to lead the responsibility of unity. Design, for society. A party that listens to society. Unity with perspective. The triple responsibility I commit to.
