With the proposal of the president Stefanos Kasselakis, its meeting began Central Committee of SYRIZA-PS, in the wake of the confrontations that followed the European elections.

The Central Committee will discuss the election result as well as the path to the party’s statutory Congress.

On her subject cooperation of progressive forces the party’s president, Stefanos Kasselakis, said starting his speech at the Central Committee of SYRIZA-PS.

“A party that offered a lot in its first life cycle must now respond to the social demand and act as the leading political force of all the forces of the progressive space” said Mr. Kasselakis and added:

“I understand from the positions of many of you, many of our MPs, many of our regional executives and ordinary members that although Mr. Mitsotakis fell to 28% and it has now become clear that the current government is on the retreat, but at the same time there is a desire that looks like with a political slogan: “Find them, so he can leave as quickly as possible”.

He then referred to his own road map: “First we must modernize, renew and strengthen our own party, making it more functional and more welcoming to millions of progressive citizens. First of all we must to work collectively to gain the trust of citizens.

He referred to the issue of convergences:

“Nobody denies that convergences are needed. But these will happen coordinatestransparently before the eyes of the entire progressive world and with respect for the autonomy of the existing forms.

To cut any deal behind closed doors with other parties just to try to get a bigger sum of percentages, to me, would be unethical. But apart from being unethical, such an agreement would also be ineffective. Why to arbitrarily pair the goat with the deer, the only thing you would achieve would be “tragelafos”, that is, which in our language is synonymous with ridiculous»

He insisted on “the gradual and bottom-up convergence of progressive forces” and explained:

Unions by mere fusion have never won a ruling party, however corrupt it may have been.. Nor have they ever effectively dealt with the dangers coming from the far right. Even in France the left coalition took away from Macron and not from Le Pen, who got 33%”.
