Strict warning to private doctors who do not assist in public hospitals in their areaaddressed from the Forum of the Plenary Adonis Georgiadis, answering a topical question of PASOK MP Panagiotas Grigorakou about the Molaon hospital in Lakonia.
The Minister again called on the doctors to support the public hospitals they are facing medical staff shortages, warning of stricter measures, such as their expulsion from the electronic prescribing system.
“I am very close to more drastic measures as to how the doctors of a county will or will not staff the public hospital and I am referring to private doctors. I find it completely unthinkable for me that a private internist would be indifferent to how the hospital next to him works. A doctor when he makes use of the state’s prescription system becomes a link in the state’s overall health system. I don’t want to say more at the moment because before I reach my final decision I want to see if there is a voluntary decision by the private doctors”, the Minister emphasized, adding “if there is no willingness and no cooperation from anyone, I assure you that the current Minister of Health , the case of seeing hospitals without doctors and the tenders coming out continuously barren and outside the hospital a private market of private doctors flourishing, who cover the needs of the population with their own remuneration, will find us absolutely opposite and mind blowing. The state has many ways to act.”
However, speaking about the problem of understaffing of public hospitals, he revealed that within the week I will sign an MOU with the Ministry of Finance for the new framework for barren areas. “One of the provisions that we put in this KYA, is that if in some area we have a hospital where the announcements are constantly coming out barren, that area automatically falls into the status of a barren area and the benefits for the barren areas, the which will in fact be greatly increased according to the new KY”, underlined the Minister.
