SYRIZA appeals to the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, calling on him to finally come to terms with international law and reality and to understand that the continuous violations of international law have predictable consequences concerning its EU accession process
SYRIZA – PS unequivocally condemns the new violation of the Prespa Agreement by the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Mitskoski, during the NATO Summit, Koumoundourou says in a statement and “calls on the Mitsotakis government to finally wake up from the diplomatic lethargy in which it has fallen and to take the foreseen actions, in order for the government of North Macedonia to face its responsibilities”.
SYRIZA accuses the government of “bringing its signature to this damage to national interests, in the name of its irresponsible foreign policy, avoiding all these years any active involvement with the Agreement in order to maintain its internal party balances”. . He argues that, “for the sake of micro-political expediencies, the New Republic diligently avoided shielding the Agreement, pressuring its neighbor for its faithful implementation, while it did not take care to develop the bilateral strategic relations and the role of Greece in North Macedonia, ratifying the memoranda and signing new, with the implications for our national interests now apparent.”
He addresses the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, calling on him “to finally come to terms with international law and reality and to understand that the continuous violations of international law have predictable consequences concerning its EU accession process”. In closing, he also states that “the Mitsotakis government must finally mobilize and announce the blocking of North Macedonia’s European perspective until it complies with the Agreement”.
