KETHEA is not closing nor is it closing any structure, said the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, who, in his intervention, earlier this evening in the debate that is developing in the plenary session on the “completion of the psychiatric reform”, responded to the criticisms expressed by one after the another, the opposition MPs.

“KETHEA is not abolished. I say it again, KETHEA is not abolished. All these carriers are also not removed. The Memorandum is valid until 2027, as it was before this bill. You are waiting for us to tell you what will happen after the end of the Memorandum, i.e. after the end of 2027. But even without this bill, the memorandum is still valid until 2027. Well, neither KETHEA is abolished, nor are we abolishing dry rehab, nor we don’t leave anyone alone, we don’t fire anyone, we don’t close any mental hospitals. You have been talking since morning about a bill that does not exist. No one is fired, no structure is closed. We are not closing any psychiatric hospital. For God’s sake, since the morning,” said Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis.

PASOK MP Eleni Vatsina had previously taken the stage, who referred to the work of KETHEA and its critical role, especially today when “we are talking about drug trafficking in schools, cocaine use by young students, recreational pills on the islands, sex in the internet, for gambling addiction”.
