A new round of political confrontation between the government and the opposition was provoked in the Plenary Session of the Parliament on the occasion of conclusion of the investigation carried out by the Supreme Court for possible association of the illegal Predator surveillance software with the country’s government agencies.

“Starting today, all of you are bound not to talk about the wiretapping scandal involving the government again. Anyone who questions the conclusion from today, calls into question the country’s polity. There is no eavesdropping scandal, the conclusion of the Supreme Court concluded”, clarified Adonis Georgiadis from the government benches, responding to the objections of Nasos Iliopoulos from the New Left.

The parliamentary representative had launched a scathing attack on the government, claiming that the country is a “playground of organized crime” and a “banana”, accusing the government of coordinating a joint surveillance center.

“The conclusion of the prosecution of the Supreme Court after 20 months of investigation and reached specific conclusions. You would like to be something like Maduro who cheats to win elections for you in the New Left. The executive power is one thing, the judiciary is another,” replied the Minister of Health, and addressing all the opposition parties, he emphasized: “Our political opponents should say sorry to Grigori Dimitriadis who was slandered. He quite rightly resigned, but today we have a final and irrevocable will of justice, which says that there was no involvement of the EYP”.
