The ex-minister said he has been called to give his views on the 70-member complaint (i.e. 70 party members have called for his removal)
Christos Spirtzis announced his decision not to attend the upcoming meeting of the party’s Ethics Committee.
“Of course. And I replied that I will not go“, said the former minister, speaking to ERTnews, when asked if he has been summoned to the party’s Ethics Committee tomorrow.
The former minister said that he has been called to give his views on the complaint of 70 members (i.e. 70 members of the party have asked for his removal), while he added:I’m not going because I’m not available at the moment, I don’t have time, I’m working and I’m dealing with wiretapping, something that SYRIZA doesn’t deal with as it should, unfortunately.” He argued that by choosing not to go to the meeting even though he was summoned, he does not discredit the institution. “I don’t discount it at all, there is no – not even when they sent me the complaint – any time frame, not by the regulation, not by our bylaws,” he said. “I congratulate the Ethics committee that operates on August 5, but I am not available, as is the president of our party, he is not even here“, he said.
Mr. Spirtzis mentioned that he imagines that “the Ethics Committee will decide what to do or take a decision without me having expressed my views, that is, it will meet in my absence I imagine and examine the 70 who complain because I have expressed my opinion, and then it will make a recommendation to the Central Committee ». To the question of how he will deal with it if he is deleted, Mr. Spirtzis replied: “If I am deleted for the reasons that are the complaint, that is because I said and say – I did not stop for a moment to do so – my opinion in public, it will be a great honor for me to delete me If I am deleted for the reasons I am complaining about from the specific 70 it will be a great honor for me».
