In the morning, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was at the ESKEDIK (Unit Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and was informed about the progress of the fire in Attica and the ongoing operations of the fire brigade.

Minister Vasilis Kikilia will make statements about the course of the fire and the actions of the Fire Brigade.

ESKEDIK’s mission is to:

  • coordinating and achieving interoperability of the Greek Police Services, to deal with all forms of crime and especially organized crime,
  • the staff planning, organization and testing of the critical incident handling system of the Hellenic Police,
  • adherence to operational response plans,
  • the advisory support of the management structure of critical incidents during their management and
  • the provision of advisory support to the political leadership of the Corps, in cases of generalized internal security crises at the national level, whether the main response responsibility belongs to the Greek Police, or it functions in support of another competent body.
