The prime minister mentioned both the Thessaloniki Metro and the FlyOver during his speech
The date it will be delivered Metro of Thessaloniki announced the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his speech at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall at the event entitled: “National Strategy for Regional Development / Presentation of Digital Platform erga.gov.gr”.
As revealed by the Thessaloniki metro, it will be delivered to the public on November 30, 2024.
“After many inaugurations that were not inaugurations, I announce that the Thessaloniki Metro will be delivered to the citizens on November 30, 2024. It will not be inaugurated, but it will be delivered on November 30. In 95 days from now. So the clock works backwards. St. Andrew’s Day for a great celebration.”
The prime minister stated in his speech that Thessaloniki is changing and that no government has carried out so many infrastructure projects in the city.
“We can implement what we say and the projects prove it” said Mr. Mitsotakis, stressing that Thessaloniki will soon have the most modern cancer hospital.
“Is the Minister of Health right when he says that, within the next four years, Thessaloniki will have the most modern anti-cancer hospital and the most modern pediatric hospital in the country, combined with significant interventions made by the Recovery Fund in all our building infrastructures, in Emergency Departments, in Health Centers. We have never had such a plan to restructure the NHS infrastructure, as the one implemented by this government. And since many of these projects are Recovery Fund projects, they also have very strict implementation schedules and the citizens of Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia as a whole will see a very significant change in the infrastructure of existing hospitals and Health Centers within the next 18 to 24 months” noted Mr. Mitsotakis.
At the same time, he also referred to FlyOver saying that the aim is to deliver it in the Spring of 2027, before the parliamentary elections.
Kostas Giulekas, Akis Skertsos, Thanasis Kontogeorgis, Nikos Papathanasis, Christos Staikouras, Thodoros Skylakakis, Takis Theodorikakos, Adonis Georgiadis and Lina Mendoni also spoke at the event.
Afterwards, the prime minister, flanked by competent ministers, will have meetings with representatives of productive and scientific bodies and the local government, in order to listen to their requests, in view of the speech he will make at the opening of the 88th TIF, on Saturday, September 7, at the conference center “I. Vellidis”.
This morning, the Prime Minister arrived at YMATH as part of his regular visit to Thessaloniki, ahead of the 88th TEF. The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Undersecretary of the Interior, responsible for Macedonia-Thrace affairs, Konstantinos Giulekas. Then they went to the meeting room, where they were awaited by ND MPs from 1st and 2nd Thessaloniki, with whom they discussed issues concerning the city.
Afterwards, Mr. Mitsotakis went to the Thessaloniki Concert Hall for the presentation of the digital platform erga.gov.gr. It is a platform which, according to government sources, is “a bold step in transparency and accountability”, as it will enable the monitoring of ongoing projects – at all stages and in real time, thereby increasing accountability to the citizens and transparency, while the goal of double convergence will also be reflected – that is, the convergence of Greece with Europe and the Region with Attica.
