With the mayor of Veria Costas Borgiazidis, the president of PASOK-Movement of Change met earlier this morning, Nikos Androulakis. They discussed with the participation of self-governing agents of Imathia the problems faced by the Municipalities and the difficulties for regional development.

“The problems of Self-Government are many: The cost of energy, the scarcity of water, the resources you need to offer services close to the citizen, issues of regional development”, said Mr. Androulakis. He added that PASOK has made major reforms to strengthen the institution.

“Unfortunately, however, in recent years, we see that there are too many problems and that the mood for dialogue and understanding is absent. Something that is particularly underlined by the planning of the Recovery Fund. Europe made it possible to access cheap loans and billions in grants to build a strong National Health System and a coherent regional development plan. Despite all this, there was no discussion, but everything was the result of central government choices. While a dialogue should be opened with civil society, the Local Government, the Chambers and in each region, in each municipality, in each prefecture, with broader consents to implement projects that are considered a vital priority. It didn’t happen and it shows how New Democracy really perceives the institution. It was a choice of contempt for all levels of Local Government” emphasized the current and candidate for re-election of the president of PASOK-KINAL.
