The press office of SYRIZA-PS responded with a mocking statement to the statement of the government representative about the housing problem faced by teachers on the islands.

“The government representative is to be congratulated for his response to the housing problem faced by newly appointed teachers, following the shameful news regarding a teacher who is forced to sleep in his car in Rhodes, as he cannot afford the cost of rent” he says in its announcement, SYRIZA explains:

“Instead of an answer, Mr. Marinakis said that the government has taken… very important measures to deal with the housing crisis, such as the increase in the housing allowance for students!”

Generalizing he refers to the start of the new school year: “At the same time, the government representative tried to convince about the adequate preparation of the government in view of the new school year, at a time when complaints from teachers’ organizations and parents from all over the country regarding mergers are increasing of school departments and units, while they even talk about exerting pressure on parents to take their children from the neighborhood school” notes SYRIZA and emphasizes: “Education is a universal good and not a privilege for a few. And this is a value that the neoliberal Mitsotakis government cannot serve.”
