He answers all questions about why he is running for leadership – “I have a cult of personality in Tsipras, I hope he becomes a candidate,” he said among other things
His candidacy for the leadership of SYRIZA has nothing to do with personal ambition, but to “put his back in order to end the problem and restart”, emphasized Apostolos Gletsos, speaking to SKAI.
Answering the question about who is responsible for the crisis in the party, he spoke of “a big shock from the results of the last two parliamentary elections”, but the biggest shock, he said, was when Alexis Tsipras decided to make room for something new. “We didn’t expect it and we didn’t want it.”
“On the first Sunday of the elections I was with Mr. Pappas, but on the second I couldn’t be with the subversives who caused our collapse,” he said, at the same time attributing responsibility to the financial staff for the course of SYRIZA: “You can’t collect the money of the third memorandum and give them to Mitsotakis to distribute to his friends,” he pointed out indicatively.
Regarding Alexis Tsipras, he noted that he has a “personality cult” for the former president of the party. He even repeated that he will not claim the leadership in the event that Mr. Tsipras is nominated. “I will not ask why, as long as he tells me,” he said and added: “I will never publicly judge Tsipras. If I become president, I will have Tsipras’ lysari under my belt.”
Finally, he said that he would like Alexis Tsipras to be a candidate, while he expressed his opposition to Kasselakis’ course during his 11 months at the SYRIZA reins.
