Pausanias Papageorgiou will be the new press representative of SYRIZA, by decision of the Political Secretariat of the party, which met on Tuesday afternoon for the road map until the election of the new leader.

Pausanias Papageorgiou will replace Voula Kehagia after her resignation as SYRIZA press representative, which she made known through her posting in X.

The proposal of the Political Secretariat to the next Central Committee foresees the first round of internal party elections to be held on November 24th and, if necessary, the second round on December 1st.

According to the same decision, the extraordinary Congress of SYRIZA will be held on November 1-4, which will announce the nominations for the election of the leader and validate the process. Earlier on October 19-20 the congressmen will be elected. It is still open whether the extraordinary Congress will also be a statutory Congress, something that will be discussed at the next Political Secretariat and decided at the Central Committee. If the extraordinary Congress is not statutory then the changes will be carried over to a new Congress after the election of a leader.

According to the same information, the decision was taken 18-3. Pavlos Polakis and Theodora Tzakri and Olympia Teligioridou disagreed, who proposed that the leadership election be held on November 3 and the Congress be held in mid-October.
