“We have already taken 50 auxiliary nurses in Rhodes, we are preparing a new round of recruitment in 2025” – What he said about the afternoon surgeries
On his TV and to “Mismatched» the Minister of Health was a guest, Adonis Georgiadiswho answered a series of questions about his issues National Health System (NHS).
“In the summer I went to Rhodes and I said on camera that we will hire 50 nurses. Right now as we speak, 50 auxiliary nurses have already been hired through the board we opened at the Rhodes Hospital, and we are going to do the same for the Kavala Hospital”, Mr. Georgiadis initially pointed out, adding that “any nurse who listens to us and wishes to be in a hospital near his home, we will hire him immediately if there is an open position”.
At the same time, he clarified that the vacancies have already been announced, with 3 different boards from ASEP “running”, while the redistribution of recruitment for 2025 with many thousands of nurses is also “in the works”, as he said, with the weight, however, to “must be given to the lack of medical staff”. To a related question, he clarified that “we are not going to let any paramedics leave the hospitals, because the first problem in the NHS is the lack of staff”.
“I have requested an electronic cross-check of prescriptions at all pharmacies for the diabetes drug”
Regarding him EOPYY and them illegal prescriptionsthe minister underlined:
“Immediately after that I will send a document to EOF about the medicine for diabetes. We requested and received from all pharmacies all deliveries of this medicine. But now I will request from the EOF an electronic cross-check of what intangible prescriptions have been executed by the various pharmacies and what they have in stock, as it is a drug whose export and administration without a medical prescription is prohibited. Now the electronic traces remain and we will find everything, I will even do retrospective checks”.
Adonis Georgiadis added, in fact, that efforts have been made to find safety nets through IDIKA, so that AMKA people are not abused with illegal circuits. “Those we caught were taking AMKAs of mainly immigrants, prescribing them medicines in their absence and through them executing prescriptions, charging EOPYY’s participation in the medicine, which they eventually exported abroad illegally. For this reason we will put his procedure OTPthat is, a security system that will come to the person’s mobile for consent to the prescription, as is already done in banking transactions”.
“Our goal by the end of 2025 is to have at least 37,000 afternoon surgeries – Is €7,200/year a pittance?”
In a question about the afternoon surgeriesMr. Georgiadis stated that the aim of the ministry is to perform at least 37,000 surgeries between this November and December 2025, with the aim of drastically reducing the corresponding waiting rate, below half. In addition, he stated that he was “proud of the National Health System”, however he did not fail to recognize that there are pathogens of many decades.
“I will not tell you that I will be indifferent and just hand it over to the next one since there have always been problems. I am not interested in telling you that in all European Health systems there are similar waiting times in emergency rooms and operating rooms, I want to work to deal with both. For the first we have the afternoon surgeries, for the second we will present a plan in October with Mr. Marios Themistokleous. I believe that by Easter, citizens will see a noticeable improvement in the reduction of their waiting times.”
As for physician motivations on barren areas, he explained that he is the first minister to change the incentives in 25 years, pointing out that “only Bill Gates would call the extra €7,200 a year a crumb”.
“If Kasselakis comes down, by 90% he will win – That’s why I called Polakis a fascist”
Finally, responding to how he would feel about the possibility of Pavlos Polakis being the leader of SYRIZA, the minister said:
“Let’s suppose that I, that is, a minister whom the Left characterizes as far-right, decided to fire two civil servants because they had close relations with a political opponent of mine, Mr. Polakis for example. To have accused both of them of tax evasion, of having stolen money from the lentils, of having bribed, for anything, and after 8 years that these people are out of the State because they have lost their jobs, they have been unanimously acquitted in court. I seriously want you to think how many tear-jerking articles would have been written in newspapers, how many halos would have been given to them. I do not accept this, Mr. Stamatis Poulis and Mrs. Androniki Theofilatou have been sentenced to anonymity. This is fascism, the imposition of others by force.”
He concluded by saying that whatever SYRIZA does, it now has no way out. “If Kasselakis goes down, 90% will win. If he wins, half will leave. Mr. Polakis has a chance of being elected. I have to tell you something you don’t know. Stamatis Poulis and Androniki Theofilatou have sued Polakis for defamation. Do you know when the court is? October 30, the eve of their Congress for the election of a leader. He already got 3 postponements, he can’t get another one.”
