Speaking at the Summit for the Future, meetings with Jewish organizations and Arab leaders the first day of the Prime Minister’s program begins Kyriakou Mitsotakis at New York.

The prime minister will address its plenary session Summit for the Future between 13.00-13.30 (New York time – 22:00-22:30 Greek time), in the United Nations General Assembly Hall.

The Future Summit is an initiative of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and is part of the UN’s broader efforts to address critical global challenges such as geopolitical tensions, economic instability, human rights, digital governance and threats to world peace and reform the international system to make it future-ready.

The summit is based on the UN Declaration in 2020 for the 75th anniversary of the international organization and aims to revitalize global cooperation.

Greece is expected to support the Pact for the Future at the United Nationswhich focuses on peace, sustainable development, technology and global governance, reaffirming the principles of the United Nations Charter.

At noon (local time) the prime minister will hold meetings with Jewish organizations. Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a meeting with the president of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder.

Later the prime minister will have a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah at the offices of the emirate’s permanent delegation in New York, with the aim of strengthening political dialogue, economic relations and investments at the bilateral level.

The Sheikh of Kuwait plays a central role in the governance, diplomacy and overall direction of the country.

There is interest in increasing investment between the two countries, particularly in real estate, energy infrastructure and tourism. Kuwait has invested in Greek real estate and tourism projects, while Greek companies are involved in various projects in the emirate.

Greece is not a major producer of oil, however it is an importer of Kuwaiti oil. The two countries have explored opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector, including renewable energy.

Kuwait faces economic challenges due to fluctuating oil prices as the country is heavily dependent on oil revenue.
