“I hear the accusation that we do not make policies for the many, but policies for the few. Were the 400,000 jobs for the few?’ he reported
With two… “no” the interview of the Minister of State began Maki Voridis, to SKAI: He didn’t see the “green” telefight on Tuesday night, he didn’t go to the award ceremony of the late Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. Regarding the debate in particular, he said that he read that it was interesting while he called the goal set by Anna Diamantopoulou for victory against Kyriakos Mitsotakis “noble ambitions”.
In response to a question about if there is intra-party opposition in the ruling party, the Minister of State reiterated that 5,000 questions have been submitted by the parliamentarians of the coalition in the four years. The question of the eleven MPs is, moreover, “completely separate” from the issue with the deleted MP Mario Salmahas “no relation”. After all, two of the eleven MPs also participated in the Ethics Committee of the Parliamentary Group, which judged the Aitoloakarnania MP, he added.
In the end, “he was primarily disturbed – and above all, and that is why he was checked – the so-called anti-parliamentary behavior and the violation of the rules of ethics.” At this point, M. Voridis cited facts, such as that in his parliamentary question M. Salmas did not consider it appropriate to make an appeal, also that he was given the documents he requested, through the parliamentary route. And, in the meantime, the “scandalous”, according to Mr. Salma, contract “has been decided in the administrative courts and was considered legal”.
So while all of this has gone before, “to come back to the subject with the most weighty characterizations, it is the externalization of this behavior that leads to expulsion.” According to the Minister of State, “Mr. Salmas, from one point onward, to his knowledge repeated slanderous claims. You cannot say about a decided case that it is a scandal”, was his conclusion.
In a question about the landscape on the right of the ruling party, after noting that “New Democracy addresses all Greek citizens and claims their vote, and it does so with its policy and its attitude”, he specialized with individual issues of the so-called ” right-wing agenda”. In immigration for example, “when we got the situation (s.s. from the previous government) with 130 reception centers and at the moment there are 30, when we got it with 120,000 immigrants and today there are 30,000, don’t you like that as management?” When we build the fence, don’t we like it as management?”, were the questions raised by M. Voridis, who repeated that the problems are the government’s opponent and indeed “the problems of the new phase of the Greek economy and society”. Such problems are finding labor, punctuality, he said, adding that, in any case, the situation is not worse, on the contrary, it is better than before.
On the question of whether the government, the Ministry of Finance follows a strict economic policy, he argued saying: “We have commitments that stem from our general presence in the European Union, so we have targets for fiscal surpluses and limits to the increase of public expenditures.”
But, he added, the citizen receives from the growth of the economy, from 400,000 new jobs”. After all, he added, “there have always been households that were under pressure. The first question is these households that are being squeezed now, are they more or less? And, those who are being pressed now, are they being pressed more or less?”, he wondered and closed his answer as follows:
“We used to talk about the generation of 500 euros, that generation no longer exists. Now, it’s the 850 euro generation. Remember when we once had 23% unemployment? Too many people were getting 450 euros unemployment benefit. Of these, 400,000 people found work. If they found a job with the minimum wage, their income from 450 euros, became 850 euros. I am not saying that with 850 euros you are rich. You are still in a difficult situation. You’re in a less difficult situation.”
And, in conclusion, “I hear the accusation that we do not make policies for the many, but policies for the few. Were the 400,000 jobs for the few?’
