“I call for participation and unity in the October 6 elections. With a feeling of optimism for the present and the future of our party” said the former prime minister
Former Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou, from New York where he has meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, a few hours after the debate of the PASOK-Movement for Change leadership candidates, called on friends and voters to come en masse to the intra-party polls elections on October 6.
In a post on his Facebook page, Mr. Papandreou said:
“Yesterday Greek citizens had the opportunity to watch on ERT a well-organized debate of the 6 candidates for the presidency of PASOK, which managed to become not only a televised but also a political event.
Through the public, democratic dialogue, not only is the acquis of the open presidential election consolidated and enriched from the base that we launched in 2004, but intra-party democracy is deepened and the participation of the member and friend of PASOK is strengthened. And finally the voice of society itself.”
From the USA where I am to advance the country in co-shaping the progressive policies of tomorrow, I am calling for participation and unity in the elections of October 6.
With a feeling of optimism for the present and the future of our party, so that it can play a decisive role for the necessary democratic changes in Greece.
Good luck to everyone!”, added Mr. Papandreou.
